studio residency program

Launched in 2025, our Studio Residency was created to support local artists while bringing new energy, art, and activation to Allston’s thriving creative neighborhood.

Twice a year, we will invite two local artists into two adjoining sunlit studios—attached to our own space at Allston Labworks. The residency is designed to support local artists in creating new work while building meaningful connections in the surrounding creative community.

STEPHEN HAMILTON

2025 Studio Resident

Stephen Hamilton is a mixed-media artist, arts educator, researcher, and Ph.D. Candidate in Harvard’s African and African American Studies program. In addition to his studio practice, Hamilton has worked on several site-specific, large-scale mixed-media textile and sculpture installations. These include "Under the Spider’s Web" for the Boston Triennial 2025, created at the studio during his residency. Hamilton has work in the permanent collections of Private collectors as well as The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Rose Museum at Brandeis University, and The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston.

MASSIEL GRULLON

2025 Studio Resident

Massiel Grullon is a Boston-based Dominican artist with roots in Allston. An alum of Boston Arts Academy and Montserrat College of Art (BFA, Painting & Graphic Design, 2014), she has long been active in Boston’s creative community through murals, design, and fine art. Her work blends retro-inspired aesthetics with influences from mid-century and space-age architecture, evoking nostalgia, harmony, and interactivity. During her residency, she was named the 2025 TD Garden House Artist, debuting a mural honoring women in sports in The Hub on Causeway.
